Teaching English to children while they’re still learning a first or a second language is always a challenging prospect.This course will explore how young children learn English, why children learn best through play and some aspects of early childhood learning and development. This practical course will develop aspects such as how to best talk to young children; how to create the best learning environment to learn English and how to monitor their progress. It will be mainly focused on learning through games, through stories, through drama and through songs. Participants will also share personal insights and experiences so that all can learn how to best talk to young children; how to create the best environment for learning and how to monitor their progress in bilingual contexts. Main objectives will be: - Understand young children’s development and language acquisition process - Know and share procedures and strategies to be put in practice inn the classroom as games, storytelling and drama. - Broaden teachers' repertoire of songs, rhymes and games. - Gain new procedures and tools for observation and assessment.
